My standard procedure is to cut the fabric with tapered corners, not in a perfect square. When the cover is stuffed with a pillow insert, this tapering creates a pillow that is more square – visually (see below). This is especially helpful with trim details. Because of this, the pillow will measure its finished dimension across the “belly” of the pillow, not corner to corner. If you do NOT want your corners tapered, please let me know.
